We Love Our Grandparents!

Valuing your heritage is an important thing.  Heritage shapes who you are and ultimately who you can be.  Grandparents Day is right around the corner.  Last year, we had lots of grandparents come in and visit our school during the day.  We even had a special chapel honoring them! It is going to be a fun day this year too! :)

Student Council Elections

Yesterday Penn View Bible Institute and Penn View Christian Academy held their annual student council elections.  David Sanford won president, Kathryn Byler won vice- president, LaBreeska Perry won Secretary and Craig Davis won the treasury.  Congratulations to the new STUCO officers!! We’re looking forward to seeing what you will do during your administration!

Harvest Home

Can you believe that it is nearly October? Time is just flying by! Students have already been on Campus for a whole month! Harvest home marks a time when students can take time and thank god for their blessings and enjoy the changing seasons without the load of schoolwork.  This year, Aaron McCarty will be ministering in music along with the Penn View Groups.  We are looking for a wonderful time and a great kickoff to the fall season.  Harvest Home will take place October 2 at 7:00 P.M.

Last year, Harvest home was a huge success!

See you at the Pole!

“See you at the Pole,” is a nationwide event. Students all across the USA meet together at the flagpole of their schools for prayer. This is done to pray for the country and its leaders.   This is always a special time for the students at Penn View! This year, “See you at the Pole,” will take place on Wednesday, September 22.  We are looking forward to this time of prayer and reflection together.

The 2010 Fall Penn View Picnic

Spirits were high this past Saturday with the arrival of our annual Fall picnic.  It was a day full of games, fun activities, food and fellowship.  A good time was had by all!!  The height of anticipation was centered around the high school/college guys softball game.  It was extra competetive this year!  This particular game was a nail-biter with the winning catch by Darren Durkee making all of the difference for the high school team!  Good job high school boys!! You deserved that win with all of the practice you put into it!! The competition has now been shifted to the college/ high school football game coming up in November! Wonder who will win?!?

Praise the Lord!!

As you may know from previous posts, last week was spiritual emphasis week.  We had wonderful chapel services each day as God led Bro. Chris Cravens to speak to us.  On Friday, Bro. Cravens preached a powerful message on being a forerunner of Jesus Christ.  Students lined the altar and made a public statement that they were going to be a living sacrifice for Jesus, no matter the cost. We were so blessed to have such wonderful services! Praise God for being so faithful!! A big THANKS to the Praise Singers for their excellent representation in the evening IHC services!

Student Council

This Friday marks the beginning of the student council races.  Each student desiring to run had to get ten signatures of supporters before he/she could be eligible for the “big” race.  Next week we will be seeing campaign posters all over school as opponents battle it out for the Student Council seats.  Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 28.  These next few weeks and days are going to be exciting here on the campus of Penn View! We can’t wait to see who will win!

Spiritual Emphasis

Everyone at Penn View knows the emphasis we try to put into individual spiritual lives.  Aside from the rigor of classes and the fun and games of dorm life, we stress the importance of living pure and holy lives.  Next week, September 6 -10, is Spiritual Emphasis week.  Class periods are shortened as we welcome the local IHC morning services to our normal chapel time.  Our past two chapel services have been marked with God’s presence and the students have not failed to respond.  Amid testimonies, seeking around the altar and singing, His presence was felt in a strong way.  It is such a blessing to see that with the start of a new year, God is once again at work at Penn View.

Off to a great start!!

The 2010-2011 school year is in full swing! We are so excited about the quality of students that have come our way this year!  It has been said that the new students this year have been very helpful in response to requests for assistance wherever needed.  Word is that there weren’t enough jobs for the students that wanted to help.  We are so blessed to have good, godly freshmen with a solid committment to their education and God’s will for their lives.

On the two registration days, freshmen and returning students alike went from scheduling classes with the divisional chairman to meeting with President Zechman and finally buying their books.  Last week was a fun time filled with orientations, getting to know one another, meetings, and of course the famous “Welcome Night.” It was an evening of christian music, food, and fellowship.  Everyone on campus enjoyed themselves.
