Spiritual Emphasis

Everyone at Penn View knows the emphasis we try to put into individual spiritual lives.  Aside from the rigor of classes and the fun and games of dorm life, we stress the importance of living pure and holy lives.  Next week, September 6 -10, is Spiritual Emphasis week.  Class periods are shortened as we welcome the local IHC morning services to our normal chapel time.  Our past two chapel services have been marked with God’s presence and the students have not failed to respond.  Amid testimonies, seeking around the altar and singing, His presence was felt in a strong way.  It is such a blessing to see that with the start of a new year, God is once again at work at Penn View.

Off to a great start!!

The 2010-2011 school year is in full swing! We are so excited about the quality of students that have come our way this year!  It has been said that the new students this year have been very helpful in response to requests for assistance wherever needed.  Word is that there weren’t enough jobs for the students that wanted to help.  We are so blessed to have good, godly freshmen with a solid committment to their education and God’s will for their lives.

On the two registration days, freshmen and returning students alike went from scheduling classes with the divisional chairman to meeting with President Zechman and finally buying their books.  Last week was a fun time filled with orientations, getting to know one another, meetings, and of course the famous “Welcome Night.” It was an evening of christian music, food, and fellowship.  Everyone on campus enjoyed themselves.

Graduation

May 31, 2010 marked another big day for Penn View. Graduates from both Acadamy and Institute turned their tassles and headed out into a new adventure! Congratulations to all! We pray as another year closes and we turn to summer activities that God will be near to all. We have several PR groups on the road this summer, and a few ministry students doing internships! We thank God for the help He is giving here at Penn View, and for the help Penn View is giving to young people! May God bless this summer and bring us back safely at the start of next school year!

Nearing The End!

Today was the last day of Institute classes! Everyone was excited and somehow energized in spite of the late nights and little sleep! A wave of chatter and yearbook signing was found in the halls of the school. Students were enjoying the ‘newly decorated’ student lounge, thanks to the senior class of 2010! Although today was a day of completion for the academics, there are still a few more activities to be involved in. Spring Concert is coming up quickly, Saturday, May 29, 2010. Choir has a full day Sunday as well as attending the afternoon Baccalaureate service for graduates. Monday is the final day for goodbyes and well-wishes as the graduates of 2010 turn their tassels and start a new journey! Penn View would appreciate prayers during these last few days of busy school activity! Summer is peeking around the corner and we are ready!

Auction Weekend and Yearbooks

Penn View’s annual auction was held this past weekend. Being shortened to two days instead of three, it was a little bit nicer for the faculty and students working and setting up. We are thankful for the help of everyone and the support of all who came. Auction is always an exciting and beneficial time, but it is YOU who makes it happen. On another note, this Tuesday, May 18, will be our Yearbook Chapel. Here we will be presenting the yearbook to the students and making the dedication. This is always a fun time, getting the books, looking at pictures and signing pages! This year is our biggest yearbook yet!! We are excited about the outcome! Things are wrapping up here at school as the last two weeks are quickly moving by. We are grateful for the GREAT year God has given us!

God Answers Prayer!

mariah3.jpgUpdate from the hospital: It looks like little Mariah is going to pull through this! She has some broken ribs and some internal damage but the doctors don’t believe they need to do surgery. She is pretty banged up and will no doubt be in pain for quite awhile. Thank God He had His hand on her life. Thank you to all who have been praying! There is nothing like God’s family supporting families who need Him the most! We pray God will continue to be near during this time!

Urgent Prayer Needed!

mariah2.jpgmariah.jpgPenn View family would appreciate your prayers right now. An accident involving Mariah Shrout (Lucas and Hannah Shrout’s oldest) happened about an hour ago. She has been life-flighted to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries are not known at this point. However, much prayer is needed, not only for the Shrout family, but for the others involved. We are a family and we all want to be there at this time. God knows best and we trust in Him!

Spring Choir Tour

Choir tour, as usual, was held over Penn View’s spring break. Leaving campus on April 16 and returning home twelve days later, the tour was filled with traveling, singing and ministering. During the course of the tour, the choir spent three encouraging days at the IHC in Daton, Ohio. God’s presense and help was felt so real not only during services, but also in prayer times, devotionals, and talks along the way. Truly, God was with the choir this spring and it proved a profitable time for all!

School Spirit Week

img_2650.JPG

Penn View Students are Penn View Proud!! This was proven true during school spirit week, March 2-April 1. Starting the week off with a grand Hat Day, wearing school colors, jean day, and yes, even Wacky Wednesday, students showed their school spirit all over the campus. Not to be excluded, faculty and staff joined in the fun and excitement. This was truly another week for pictures and memories. In the midst of all the fun and energy though, God still came first! Chapels were held on Tuesday and Wednesday by special speakers. God came and met in an amazing way on Wednesday and we saw many victories! We are proud of our school spirit and our creative students, but most of all we love our God. He is first in all we do!!
